This is a review of the Megatek DVD Player DPM55HD I purchased November 15, I have had the player for a little more than a month and a half. The reason I purchased this player is that my previous all region player had failed after 15 years of use.
The Megatek can play all regions and it was priced attractively. Setup was a snap. After connecting the HDMI and plugging in the power cord, I inserted my Chinese region 6 disc and the program played just as I expected.
Some things to note; The User's Manual is pretty good although its diminutive size means the type is also diminutive. I found the small print a little hard for my old eyes to read, but still adequate. One can go to the Megatek website and download a PDF version of the manual that can be printed out full sized and in color.
The remote control is vital for using this DVD player. All the setup menus can only be accessed using the remote. It fits nicely in one hand with the most important buttons just under the thumb.
The remote is a dark black plastic with very white lettering, which makes reading the buttons relatively easy. The forty or so buttons speak to the versatility of this DVD player. One oddity is there is no mention of the front panel display in the manual.
Pressing the DISPLAY button on the remote cycles one through the front panel display modes: Title Elapsed, Title Remain, Chapter Elapsed, Chapter Remain and Display Off.
This information is also displayed on screen. The front panel display also shows if you are playing a DVD or CD and if you are in play or pause mode. I also tried playing CD music discs and region 1 movies, which it did very well with.
The CD side of DualDiscs that I tried played but took a long time to read. Based on my good experience playing region 6 discs, I would recommend this player for people with similar needs.

Haven't tried German DVD as yet. But so far very satisfied. So glad I can enjoy the DVD collection again. I set up an out-of-use HDMI-capable TV in my exercise room and wanted a DVD player to go with it.
I figured I would buy this one for my main TV and move my cheapie DVD player from there to this new setup. But the feature that allows DVDs to be played where you left off was attractive.
I don't finish a DVD before I finish exercising, so I decided to use this player in the exercise room. BTW, that feature works well and is VERY handy. The picture is good as is the audio. I also was able to play an out-of-zone DVD with no trouble.
For the price asked, it seems good value for all the features. I haven't linked the TV and DVD remotes so can't say about the ease of this.
But it all setup easily, except The one described below with the problem is hooked up to an inexpensive Insignia TV. I now have more experience playing the other one, which is hooked up to an expensive and more recent LG OLED TV. With this setup, I CAN get playback using HDMI.
I have to go into the LG's setup menu and select , but it all works. BTW, the picture does look good relatively speaking since this is older material I'm looking at. So as I suspected, it seems that the TV in use DOES come into play regarding playback using HDMI.
The catch seems to be not with this DVD player, but the TV in use with it. It is impossible to know what the situation will be with your TV's interaction with this DVD player until you try it.

I'll go 5 stars. Specifically, they are in old TV format. I have found that if you only hook up HDMI and play back using HDMI, the source material will be stretched left and right.
Personally, I do not like this effect. I have thoroughly gone through the setup menus of both this player and my TV and cannot override this. The workaround is to hook the DVD player to the TV with component cables. no stretching. But, this only works with component cabling, not HDMI. It is possible that your TV will display normally depending on the TV and the settings.
Component cabling doesn't allow for the same video quality as HDMI. But source material old enough to be in is likely to NOT be in high-def. So, this isn't a big problem. And you can still hook up using HDMI cable as well, and toggle back and forth with your TV remote.
It isn't an elegant solution, but works well enough. Luckily I still had some decent quality video and audio cables to do this extra hookup. The player is super easy to hook up, I just unplugged the HDMI cable from my blu-ray player and plugged it into the DVD player, I didn't need to fuss with the back of my TV at all.
It responds well to the remote and hasn't yet skipped or not played a disc. I've also played a region 1 Canada disc in it and it worked great. Happy with my investment! The DVD player looks good. The picture is clear.

I had to buy an adapter for Rs. A converter like this and a pair of AAA batteries should have been included with the DVD player, which would have made it ready for use.

With this gear, Ganna needed to average a cadence of at least 96 RPM to break the record. In fact, a perfect cadence of 96RPM would have netted Ganna a distance of However, that was assuming he rides perfectly on the black line for the entire hour.
Hitting his mark of Bigham indicated that Ganna would follow suit in looking to ride a negative split, going conservatively - and at lower cadence - in the first half before lifting the pace in the back end. Riding on the black line is seen as the shortest route around the track.
Riding on the outside - the right hand side - of that line would mean Ganna travels a greater distance to complete each lap. The red line, which is the next line over at approximately a metre away, is 5. The distance is not calculated based on the distance covered by Ganna's tyres, but rather the number of laps completed multiplied by the official lap distance for the Tissot Velodrome, m.
Put simply, if Ganna strayed away from the black line, he would have wasting metres. The bike was fitted with CeramicSpeed bottom bracket bearings. When we spoke to Alex Dowsett ahead of his last Hour Record attempt, he confirmed that all bearings would be run without the seals fitted, saying this is terrible for dirt ingress but marginally faster over the course of a one-hour indoor ride.
There's no confirmation as to whether Ganna's bike received the same treatment, but it's likely to be the case. Ganna's usual saddle of choice for time trials is the Fizik Ares, so we believe that same theme will continue here.
Bigham is a keen advocate of Speedplay pedals for the marginal aero gain offered by the smooth cleats and their lower stack height, but Ganna has a history of using Shimano Dura-Ace pedals, and recon rides suggest that's what he'll use. Onto Ganna himself, and Bigham's earlier confirmation and images from recon rides suggest that the Italian will use the same model of skinsuit, the Bioracer Katana, along with Bioracer aero overshoes; both custom-made pieces borne from over hours in the wind tunnel.
He also used the Kask Bambino Pro Evo helmet, on which it appears he's using the Aero Pro visor with an aero trip spoiler that first showed up during the opening time trial of the Tour de France. Notably, unlike Dowsett and we believe Bigham before him, Ganna looks to have used his standard Northwave Extreme road shoes, rather than a custom carbon fibre shoe that places the protruding Boa dials away from the front, increasing the smoothness required for a lower CdA.
The Northwave shoes have a pair of Boa dials on the outstep, although these have been smoothed out a little by the Bioracer overshoes. Finally, we also received confirmation that Ganna used a Core-branded temperature sensor, which fits onto his heart rate strap and monitors his skin and core body temperature throughout the effort.
It's unlikely this information would have been available in real-time to Ganna, as the UCI rules forbid him from viewing a cycling computer during the effort, but it will be recorded for post-race analysis and might be visible to coaches at the trackside.
